DIY Thursdays: Creative Baby Shower Favors to Fit Any Budget
Cute DIY baby shower favors help you celebrate in style.
Are you one of the millions of people who will be welcoming a new bundle of joy into your family this year? Well what better way to celebrate the approaching birth of the newborn than to assist in hosting a baby shower for the expecting mother.
I have done a little research and found three of the cutest, most budget-friendly baby shower favors to help set you shower apart from the rest.
Homemade Sugar Scrub
This is a shower favor that your guests will be able to use over and over again. With this gift, you have the ability to customize the favor to fit the theme of your shower. These can be prepared in either small baby food sized jars or larger mason jars.
All you will need is
• 2 cups of brown sugar (lightly packed)
• 2 cups of white sugar
• 2 cup of oil (Canola or Olive oil)
• 1 tsp of Vanilla
Pour the brown sugar and white sugar into a large mixing bowl. Next add in the oil and vanilla and stir. Once the substance has been mixed thoroughly, you can put the brown sugar scrub into the separate glass jars.
Once the jars are sealed feel free to customize the jar and labeling based on gender or shower theme with ribbons, stickers, labels, due date, ect.
Mini Bird’s Nest Favors
This is a great baby shower favor for those spring themed showers.
The only materials that you will need are:
• Mini bird’s nests
• Clear cellophane candy bags
• Small pieces of candy of your choice based on the color theme
• ¼ wide satin ribbon
• Personalized baby shower labels
• Scissors
First you must fill the cellophane bags with approximately 8 – 10 small pieces of candy and then fold the bag over enough to fit inside of the nest. Seal the bag with tape of needed and place the candy bag inside of the nest. Next you will want to cut the ribbon into 12 inch pieces. Lay the ribbon horizontally and sit the nest on top of the center of the ribbon. Fold both sides of the ribbon over the top of the candy to create an “x” and glue/tape it down. Place your personalized label on the top of the candy nest and you’re done.
Ready to Pop Popcorn
This is probably the simplest of the three baby shower favors. There are only three ingredients needed. They are popcorn, premier white chocolate morsels, and pastel colored M&Ms.
Just melt one bag of white chocolate in the microwave at 75 percent power for three minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, just until it has melted. Add half of a popped bag of popcorn and one bag of candy in a large bowl.
Pour a small amount of melted white chocolate over the popcorn and stir. Repeat this step several times until the popcorn has been generously coasted with white chocolate (about 2/3 of the melted chocolate).
Once mix is complete, pour the popcorn-chocolate mix on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Then use a spoon to drizzle the remaining melted chocolate over the popcorn. Let the popcorn mix sit and harden up for about an hour and store in an air-tight container until you are ready to use it.
When ready to use, you can put then in individual popcorn bags or decorative boxes to be passed out at the shower.
