DIY Thursdays: Do-It-Yourself Last Minute Halloween Costumes

Today is Halloween and there are only a few hours left until you are supposed to take your children out trick-or-treating or attend that annual Halloween party. Are you one of the many Americans that waited until the last minute to get your costume? If so then you are in luck, here is a+ list of last minute costumes that anyone can create with items that are already in your home.

Barbie Box

The only materials that you will need for this costume are:

• A dish pack box (for children costumes) or a wardrobe box (for adult costumes)
• Pink spray paint
• Printed Mattel and Barbie logos
• Decorative construction paper
• Tape
• Rope
• Box cutter
• Ruler
• Pencil

Directions

– Step 1: tape the top of the box.
– Step 2: Sketch out the box design. Leave designated areas for the Mattel and Barbie logos.
– Step 3: Use the box cutter to cut out the design and bottom box flaps.
– Step 4: Go into a well-ventilated space and spray paint the box
– Step 5: Tape the Mattel and Barbie logos in their designated spaces.
– Step 6: Line the inside of the box with decorative construction paper.
– Step 7: Use the ropes to create straps to hold up the costume.

Giant Grapes

The only materials that you will need for this costume are:

• Red, Purple, or Green colored balloons. Remember that you only want to choose one color.
• Solid colored long sleeve shirt. You will want you sweater and balloon color to match.
• A headband
• Leaves
• Tape
• Glue

Directions

– Step 1: Blow up 20 balloons.
– Step 2: Tape the balloons to the front and back of the shirt.
– Step 3: Glue the leaves onto the headband.

Clark Kent

The only materials that you will need is:

• Button down white shirt
• A blue Superman shirt
• Black or blue dress pants
• Tie
• Glasses

Directions

– Step 1: Put on the Superman shirt.
– Step 2: Put on your white button down shirt and tie
– Step 3: While keeping the tie on, unbutton your shirt exposing the Superman emblem
– Step 4: Put on your pants and glasses to complete the costume
